home mac dojo faq question 31

What do we do at extra training sessions?

Extra training sessions give us the opportunity to try different types of training not usually covered in regular classes (kata applications, joint locks, wrestling and maybe even knife fighting with markers) or just extra time to brush up on our technique. If anything, it gives you the chance to ask senior belts any questions you might have or for tips on your katas, basics or sparring.

If attendance is low, then training is typically informal with people working individually, or in a small group on whatever interests them that day. When attendance is higher (usually closer to a grading) extra training is usually structured similar to a regular class with black belts providing tips for improving basics, kata and grading expectations.
